Achieving Health Equity Together: Local Lessons & Global Applications 

On Wednesday, April 24, 2019, the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity hosted a well-attended special event "Achieving Health Equity Together: Local Lessons and Global Applications."

The Center's Yvonne Commodore-Mensah, RN, PhD moderated the conversation that explored perspectives from community leaders, clinicians, and researchers from Somalia, Alaska, Liberia, Nigeria, Ghana, and Baltimore USA. The diverse panel included Abdirahman Abdi, AA, Theresa Betancourt, ScD, MA, Center Director Lisa A. Cooper, MD, MPH, Reverend Debra Hickman, M.Div, and Olugbenga Ogedegbe, MD, MPH.

Attendees shared moving reflections on social media about the significant impact of experiences shared by panelists (#LocalGlobalLearning and #HealthEquityVoices). The audience included Patricia Davidson, Dean of School of Nursing, and Ellen McKenzie, Dean of the Bloomberg School of Public Health.
