The Bloomberg American Health Initiative and the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity are working with IBM Watson Health to develop a method to measure the impact of hospitals on community health and equity, for potential inclusion in the Fortune/IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals Program. A draft proposal is available here, and public comment can be provided here until September 10, 2020.

“This proposal moves the conversation forward on how hospitals’ contributions to community health and equity get counted in the hospital rankings of the future. We lay out a set of proposed measures that are grounded in standards and best practices and rely on publicly available or easily and transparently collected data. Stakeholder input is essential to this process. We need hospitals, health systems, community stakeholders, and the general public to tell us what they think and how to improve the proposal.” — Dr. Rachel Thornton
