What is the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL) Against COVID-19 Disparities?

CEAL is an NIH-wide effort led by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI).

The goal of CEAL is to quickly launch outreach efforts that can help reduce the impact of COVID-19 on the most vulnerable populations and to evaluate these efforts through community-engaged research.

CEAL research teams include NIH and other federally funded entities that have community engagement expertise, non-academic community-based organizations, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), state and/or local health departments, and others.

Our Center Director, Dr. Lisa Cooper, is among one of the four co-chairs of the CEAL Steering Committee. We will be providing summaries and links to several of the CEAL resources for researchers, health professionals, policymakers, community-based organizations, patients and other community members as they become available. You will find four relevant blogs below. Click into each one for more information.
